News Updates
As we welcome the New Year we look forward confidently to a good year in the Village. We have high expectations that our current building programs will be substantially completed during the year which will have achieved a number of years of planning, negotiation, frustration and finally construction for a substantial redevelopment of some of our older buildings.
The balance of our new independent units - 16 in total, should all be finalised (and hopefully occupied) by the end of 2012, with more than half of the units expected to be available around midyear or shortly thereafter. I am certain that residents who have seen the first stage of the units on Robinsons Road like the style of the development and consider that we have achieved a good balance in both cost and design.
Of course, as part of this development, we will also be creating some 'green space' which will enable scope for future development at some later time when we consider the future of some of the other units around amenities 2.
The ground works for the Lodge redevelopment are certainly progressing and we are anticipating that the concrete pour for the site will occur early in the New Year. Realistically, the building should be close to finished by the end of 2012 with minor fit out and floor coverings and furniture the only major items to be carried over into 2013.
My expectation is that the building will be ready to accommodate our residents around April - June of 2013. As we leave 2011, I would comment on the many wonderful Christmas functions that occurred in the Village. Notwithstanding some of the challenges and discussions that occur with differing views on matters, the spirit of Christmas was certainly evidenced in the Village family when differences are put aside and we come together to enjoy the company and friendship of our community. Peace and goodwill abounds during Christmas and the spirit is so strong you can almost touch it.
Finally, it was with much regret that I accepted the resignation of our Director of Nursing, Sue Maher, who, due to some personal issues, has been unable to continue to work at the Village. We wish Sue all the best for the future and trust that she will be able to resolve these matters.
Happy 2012
